Broken Neck Repair- Taylor, Page 2
|
Hide glue is used to set the joint.
Heating the joint with a hair dryer
increases the working time of the glue,
so that the clamps can be applied.
Still, you gotta work fast! There are
some minor areas of wood missing,
especially at the "points" of the joint.
These will need to be filled and
touched-up. Taylor necks can be
touched-up with Nitrocellulose lacquer,
so the repair will be almost invisible.
All finished and ready to play. This
time it appears that the repair had
never been done, although a trained
eye might notice the small fills in the
points. The hide glue should be a bit
tougher and more heat resistant that
the original glue. What is really
amazing is the amount of sound that
comes out of this tiny guitar!
