Fixing A Bad Belly on an LG0
This LG0 is suffering from the effects
of an upward-bowed belly around the
bridge.  The action is high and the
saddle is leaning forward.  Note that
the original plastic bridge has been
replaced by Rosewood bridge (a really
good modification for the LG0).
To fix the belly, the bridge plate and
bridge need to be removed, and the
top will need to be flattened with heat
and pressure.  The new bridge plate
will be made from maple, and the grain
will run diagonally to the centerline..

Here, the bridge is glued back into
place after the top is flattened.  The
new bridge plate is already glued into
place.  Note that the bridge has been
boiled to relax it back to its original
shape, as it had gotten a bow as well..
A bit of touch-up and polish, and the
LG is ready to play. Action is very
good, almost low without the belly.
The new bridge plate has given it more
volume, and bit more treble, which the
LG's usually need.
